Combine Rugged Innovation with Real-World Insight at the TOUGHBOOK Experience Centre
The newly redesigned TOUGHBOOK Experience Centre in Cardiff is redefining how rugged mobility
solutions are created, tested, and refined by placing customers and partners directly at the centre of
our processes.

A Purpose-Built Environment Shaped Around Real User Needs
The philosophy behind the recent investment in our TOUGHBOOK Experience Centre is clear. No rugged device manufacturer understands its customers and partners like Panasonic does; our improvements in Cardiff deepen that relationship even further.
The Cardiff Service & Solutions Centre has long been a cornerstone of TOUGHBOOK support in Europe, but its transformation into the TOUGHBOOK Experience Centre marks a major evolution. The redesigned space is intentionally structured to give visitors a more intimate, hands-on understanding of how rugged devices are engineered and validated.
Uniquely, instead of observing this innovation from a distance, customers and partners can actively participate directly in the testing processes that influence and shape their future deployments. Interactive zones allow visitors to explore the same rigorous testing that frontline teams depend on every day such as:
- Humidity and temperature chambers that replicate extreme climates and allow guests to see how devices perform under MIL‑STD conditions.
- A visitor-triggered drop test, demonstrating real-world impact resilience from multiple heights and angles.
- Environmental test plinths where screens are pressure-tested, devices are submerged in sand, and ruggedness is pushed to its limits.
- A guided teardown session with TOUGHBOOK specialists, revealing the engineering decisions behind TOUGHBOOK’s durability.
- A simulated service vehicle cockpit, showcasing how Connected Vehicle solutions will integrate seamlessly into mobile work environments.
Collaboration at the Core
Panasonic’s approach has long been grounded in a deep understanding of the operational realities faced by its mobile users – whether this is in emergency services, utilities, logistics, or defence. As workforces across Europe increasingly adopt advanced technologies, such as AI, to gain a competitive edge, our Cardiff facility strengthens this commitment by giving decision-makers a place to validate ideas, test prototypes, and co-create solutions directly with Panasonic engineers.
The philosophy behind the centre is built on genuine partnership. Panasonic prides itself on understanding the businesses of its customers and partners, alongside their specific requirements from customised ‘COTS+’ solutions, deployments, and managed services.
Streamlining our Cardiff Experience Centre is the next step in our ongoing strategy to ensure those customers and partners remain at the heart of every stage of solution development.
A Hub for Full Lifecycle Support
The Cardiff SSC continues to deliver full lifecycle services as part of Panasonic’s Mobile‑IT‑As‑A‑Service model, including hardware staging, proactive monitoring, fleet management and tailored support for mission-critical operations. Its expanded managed service desk and integration with the wider Panasonic Connect Service Centre brings all relevant expertise under one roof, enabling faster innovation and tighter quality control.
A future shaped together
As organisations transform how their teams operate in the field, mobility demands are shifting just as rapidly. Edge AI, 5G connectivity and real‑time operations are becoming standard expectations, placing new pressure on technology to perform flawlessly in every environment. This makes rugged solutions built around real‑world challenges more essential than ever.
The TOUGHBOOK Experience Centre ensures that customers and partners remain active contributors in that evolution rather than passive participants, shaping the tools they rely on through direct collaboration and hands‑on testing.
