Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona relies on Panasonic Connect technology
To optimise safety and efficiency in Barcelona's bus lanes
Our recent collaboration with Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has been under the spotlight for the implementation of advanced technology to improve traffic control on the city's bus lanes.

In response to the growing need to address the challenge of regulating bus lane usage in Barcelona, Panasonic enabled the development of a state-of-the-art photo enforcement system through the implementation of Toughbook on board. The goal was clearly stated: to detect and sanction vehicles that violate traffic regulations in these exclusive lanes, thereby improving the efficiency and safety of public transport in the city.
The collaboration, which began last year with the support of Tradesegur, marks a milestone in technology at the service of road and citizen safety and has enabled the implementation of a car equipped with advanced technology. Tradesegur has been playing a key role in the installation and deployment of this innovative system.
Since its implementation as part of an initial two-month trial, the new photo enforcement system has proved to be a success.
"The incorporation of the photo enforcement car improves road safety and reduces accidents, while strengthening compliance with traffic regulations on the city's bus lanes."
The system, operated by TMB staff, uses a 100% electric Nissan Leaf vehicle equipped with state-of-the-art cameras to detect offenders in bus lanes. Efficient management of detected offences is facilitated by the innovative Panasonic Connect TOUGHBOOK tablet, which is integrated into the vehicle, enabling a streamlined and accurate process.
At Panasonic Connect, we reaffirm our commitment to technological innovation and our contribution to the development of solutions that improve the quality of life in cities. This collaboration with TMB is an example of how our technologies can have a positive and tangible impact on the community.
We are excited about the initial results and look forward to expanding this project in the future, continuing our mission to deliver technology solutions that make a difference.
