Soniris uses Panasonic technology to detect false starts at the Hippodrome de Vincennes
A veritable institution in the world of horse racing in France, the Hippodrome de Vincennes racecourse is constantly on the lookout for solutions that can improve the detection of false starts.

Replace the existing cameras with wide-angle models that boast 4K resolution and can be installed in racks. The equipment selected must be capable of filming both during the day and at night, without camera operators.Solution
The teams at Soniris selected Panasonic's AG-UX180 and AG-UX90 cameras to replace the AG-HMC151 model from Panasonic which has been in use at the Hippodrome for 10 years. The cameras chosen meet all of the Hippodrome's technical requirements: space constraints, compatibility with the communication protocol already in place, etc."Panasonic cameras offer unparalleled performance: in particular, they enable the race numbers on the horses and the jockeys' jerseys to be identified both during the day and at night. We've been equipping the Hippodrome with Panasonic products for 10 years and we've always been completely satisfied: continuing this collaboration was therefore an obvious choice for us."
Panasonic 4K cameras to aid officials
The Hippodrome de Vincennes, the place to be for Parisian racegoers, has been equipped with Panasonic cameras for a decade. Satisfied with its collaboration with the brand, Soniris, the long-standing audiovisual equipment integrator at the Hippodrome, wanted to modernise the equipment. Seeking to acquire 4K cameras, it therefore opted for the AG-UX180 and AG-UX90 models.
“We were already very happy with the initial set-up using AG-HMC151 cameras. Therefore, it was an obvious decision for us to continue working with Panasonic. This time we opted for AG-UX180 and AG-UX90 cameras for which the communication protocol had already been established thanks to the HMC151 models", comments Stéphane Deuil, Director of Soniris.
Panasonic innovations meet expectations
All whilst integrating the functions of the AG-HMC151 cameras, the AG-UX180 and AG-UX90 models make it easier for officials to make judgements thanks to the quality of their images. The AG-UX180 supports multiformat recording in 4K 24p, UHD 60p/50p, FHD 60p/50p and super slow motion HD, which makes it easier to detect false starts.
Impressed by the quality of the images, Enghien, Caen and Cabourg racecourses – all members of the Société du Cheval Français which supports horse racing in France – have already stated their intention to acquire 4K Panasonic cameras in the near future.
“We've been able to appreciate the technical prowess of the Panasonic cameras and we're extremely confident that the cameras will be highly effective over the long term in view of our previous experience with Panasonic. We have no doubt about the results to come”, concludes Stéphane Deuil.
