NEW NPM-GW MODULAR MOUNTER INCREASES OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY & FLEXIBILITY IN SMART FACTORIES
Panasonic’s NPM-GW mounter significantly increases production capacity, and flexibility when producing larger PCB boards to meet market demand.
Munich, DE. 12th December 2024 – Panasonic Factory Solutions has introduced the latest NPM-GW Modular Mounter, increasing operational efficiency and flexibility for manufacturers throughout the entire production line process. The NPM-GW enables manufacturers to produce larger PCBs (up to 760mm x 687mm), and handle a wider range of components, achieving 104,000 CPH, increasing production volume and scalability.
Increased production capacity and speed
Compared to the NPM-GH mounter, the NPM-GW offers increased production capacity and market-leading accuracy.
It also features a larger operating screen when human intervention is required. Additional features include enhanced predictive maintenance capabilities, automatically diagnosing any issues throughout the production process. This shortens error recovery time and reduces the need for human intervention, improving uptime, productivity, and placement rates.
Making the autonomous factory a reality
The NPM-GW is part of Panasonic’s NPM G Series. The NPM G Series is an integrated range of Surface Mounted Technology (SMT) production systems designed to respond in real-time to customer supply and demand changes through continuous, autonomous updates. Using artificial intelligence and automated production to improve processes, the G-Series enables customers to set up individual, flexible, efficient, and economical production lines.
The NPM G Series includes the Panasonic’s Auto Setting Feeder (ASF). The ASF automates the setting and loading of components into the NPM-GW mounter, drastically reducing the set time and the need for human intervention. This saves valuable resources and time, helping to make the autonomous factory a reality.
Panasonic’s autonomous factory concept is enabled by its APC-5M system for process control, which automates important elements of manufacturing. It detects variations in the production process in real-time, automatically adjusting production processes to minimise downtime.
The NPM G Series is part of Panasonic's efforts to make electronics production sustainable. For example, the latest generation of screen printer reduces the required solder paste by nearly a third. Panasonic’s SMT machines cut CO2 emissions by 12%, with the NPM-GW mounter reducing energy consumption by nearly a fifth.
"European manufacturers are having to respond to ever-increasing market demand for higher component production volumes and versatility, in a market that is continuing to fluctuate. At the same time, they are also under pressure to streamline their workforces and automate production where possible, ensuring that highly skilled workers are utilised in the best way. This is at the heart of our new NPM-GW mounter, helping manufacturers to automate processes, easily scale production up and down, and seamlessly increase production capacity in a sustainable manner."
