As a body-worn mobile computing unit, the Toughbook N1 Tactical is ideal for situational awareness applications, communications and drone control in the field.

Panasonic today presents the TOUGHBOOK N1 Tactical, a variant of its rugged Android handheld, designed for use in defense, law enforcement and security services. The tactical units and special operations forces in these areas require reliable equipment for mission planning, situational awareness (SA) and mission execution. The TOUGHBOOK N1 Tactical is a next-generation device specifically designed to address these needs, including SA applications such as ATAK.

The TOUGHBOOK N1 Tactical is ready for use in tough environments. The robust handheld is protected against dust and water according to IP68. Tested to military standards MIL-STD-810G, it withstands extreme temperatures and shock. It is also certified by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP)[1], which oversees security testing, evaluation, and validation of IT products and systems to international standards. The 4.7-inch display with a brightness of 550 cd/m² is anti-glare and has a rain sensor and glove-touch mode. The screen can be read and operated well under any conditions.

Reliably ready for use
Eight programmable quick launch buttons allow faster launching and switching between applications. The device can operate for up to 12 hours on a single charge and has a warm-swap function for longer periods of use. This allows emergency services to change the battery during operation without switching off the device, interrupting work or removing parts of the device.

The Toughbook N1 Tactical runs on the Android 11 operating system with long-term security updates. It can be used with COMPASS (Complete Android Services and Security), Panasonic's powerful tool kit for Android deployment, support and control. Equipped with a Qualcomm octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB flash memory, it supports all applications that mobile units require.

“We are very excited to bring this next-generation rugged tactical device to market for our defense and public safety customers. We offer a reliable supply of devices, extensive accessories and long-term support. This makes us the perfect partner for our customers who cannot afford to have devices fail in use,” says Peter Thomas, Vertical Strategy Manager, Public Sector Europe, at Panasonic Mobile Solutions Business.

The Toughbook N1 Tactical will be available from September 2022. For more information visit: https://eu.connect.panasonic.com/gb/en/products/toughbook/toughbook-n1
