Improving the customer journey at the Petersen Automotive Museum
An iconic automotive museum in the US, has become the first to implement Panasonic’s LinkRayTM technology, to enhance visitor experience.
Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is utilising LinkRay™ alongside Panasonic interactive displays, projectors and video walls to provide an enhanced experience for the public.
Officially launched in February 2017 at ISE, LinkRay™ technology uses visible light communication to transmit content to mobile devices, turning digital signage displays, signboards and light sources into a 1-2-1 marketing tool for smartphones.
“The Petersen Automotive Museum is an iconic institution, with rare automobile exhibits set in a high tech environment,” said European Marketing Manager Enrique Robledo. “The museum was an ideal partner to work with to launch LinkRay™ since they already had our projectors and displays in place. They can now offer their visitors a unique, engaging museum experience, with options that go well beyond the exhibits on display.”
The LinkRay™ technology is embedded in the free Petersen Automotive Museum App, enabling access to a variety of activities from buying tickets to future exhibit special offers. This allows a large number of people to simultaneously learn more about an exhibit or environment using their mobile phones for interactivity, something not possible with static displays.
LinkRay™ enables smartphones to read IDs in light sent from LED transmitters, using the smartphone camera, and connect to associated web content. Information sent to the user is web based, and can therefore be pictures, audio or video files. The displayed content can also be automatically provided in the smartphone owner's native language.
The Panasonic equipment currently installed at the Petersen Museum includes 47 Panasonic projectors (PT-RZ670, PT-DZ870, and PT-DZ780) and 16 professional displays (TH-98LQ70, TH-80LF50, TH-70LF50, TH-55SF1HU, and TH-55LF80).
