NEW RANGE OF PANASONIC 1-CHIP DLP PROJECTORS IDEAL FOR MUSEUM AND EXHIBITION SPACES
The PT-RZ990 Series is a line-up of 1-Chip DLP laser projectors delivering bold colour images in a compact, maintenance-free and flexible system.
Bracknell, UK. 20th July 2020 – Panasonic has announced a new range of 1-Chip DLP laser projectors that bring brightness and simple flexibility to exhibition spaces in a compact and maintenance-free design. The PT-RZ990 Series of four different projectors, with up to 10,000lm (centre) and WUXGA resolution, will be available across Europe from August 2020.[1]
Creating immersive images in museum and exhibition spaces can be a challenge with their bright lights and large open areas. The PT-RZ990 Series thrives in this environment by delivering high brightness combined with bold and vivid colour images thanks to its next generation 1-Chip DLP™ imaging technology and Panasonic’s Quartet Colour Harmonizer. The harmonizer is a new colour-wheel technology with optimised optical design that precisely modulates light-source output according to colour requirements to provide incredibly realistic images. The images are automatically adjusted in bright light using Panasonic’s premium System Daylight View 3 technology to ensure displays are seen at their best whatever the light levels.
A more immersive viewing experience via seamlessly blended, multi-screen projection is also simple for the PT-RZ990 Series, with its Chip DLP™ technology delivering excellent uniformity between adjoining screens.
Easy to install and integrate
The Series is easy to install with Smart Projector Control allowing functions such as lens adjustment, input switching, status monitoring and auto focus to be controlled from a smart phone.
The projectors support uncompressed 4K/60p signal input[2] via HDMI® or DIGITAL LINK terminals for easy integration. Separate LAN and HDBase-T™ DIGITAL LINK terminals free the DIGITAL LINK pipeline for video-over-cable runs of up to 150m (492ft).[3]
New creative possibilities
A range of 11 optional lenses, covering wide throw-distances from 0.280:1 to 8.58:1, offers new creative possibilities. Compatible lenses include the ET-DLE020 Ultra-Short-Throw Zoom lens, the world’s first UST zero offset lens with zoom and V/H shift for installation in tight spaces.
Technicians can quickly create distortion-free images using the inbuilt Geometric Adjustment with Free Grid Correction, which enables areas of the image to be reshaped or geometrically altered. Geometric functionality can also be further enhanced using Panasonic’s ET-UK20 and CUK10 Upgrade Kits.
Reliable even in harsh conditions
Reliability is a critical factor for projectors often installed in difficult to access locations. This Series is engineered for 20,000 hours[4] of maintenance-free reliability with lasting brightness and color uniformity from the industry’s leading dust-resistant optical engine. Picture presentation is always maintained with a redundancy circuit minimising brightness and colour uniformity loss in the unlikely event a diode fails. Projectors can be configured to switch instantaneously to a backup input-signal should the primary signal be disrupted.
“With this series of projectors, museums and exhibition spaces can deliver brighter, bolder and more immersive colour displays. It uses our latest innovative colour technologies alongside 4k input capabilities for a future-proofed product range,” said Thomas Vertommen, European Product Manager for Panasonic Business. “With this enhanced range of devices, Panasonic is set to continue to lead the industry with its 1-Chip DLP projectors.”

[2] 4K signals are converted to the projector's resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) upon projection.
[3] 1080/60p signal transmission over distances up to 150 m (492 ft) requires CAT 5e or higher cable with optional ET-YFB200G DIGITAL LINK Switcher (not compatible with 4K signals) and the projector set to Long Reach Mode. Direct transmission is supported over distances up to 100 m (328 ft) for 1080/60p video signals or 50 m (164 ft) for 4K/60p video signals.
[4] Around this time, light output will have decreased by approximately 50 %. IEC62087: 2008 Broadcast Contents, NORMAL Mode, Dynamic Contrast [3], temperature 30 °C (86 °F), elevation 700 m (2,297 ft) with 0.15 mg/m3 of airborne particulate matter. Estimated time until brightness decreases to 50 % varies depending on the environment and usage conditions. Parts other than the light-source may require replacement before 20,000 hours, and checkup is recommended around this time.
