Sports and Technology in a New Dimension

Solution
An advanced audiovisual setup featuring laser projectors, specialized lenses, and professional displays, delivering exceptional visual quality and integrating a layer of interactivity that makes the experiences more immersive, dynamic, and customizable for each user.
In the heart of the Poblenou neighborhood in Barcelona, a historic space has been reborn as the world’s largest XR Sports center: Alfa5. A visionary project that blends sports and technology into a new concept of entertainment and digital culture. With over 2,000 m² of completely renovated facilities—while remaining faithful to their historical essence—Alfa5 offers 9 interactive experiences that combine virtual reality, augmented reality, and immersive projections thanks to Panasonic’s advanced projection technology.
"From the beginning, Alfa5 was an ambitious idea: we wanted to create a space where sports and technology not only coexisted, but enhanced each other to offer something completely new. The biggest challenge was turning that vision into a real, immersive, and dynamic experience capable of surprising and challenging users. Thanks to exceptional teamwork and the support of partners like Panasonic, we overcame technical, creative, and logistical challenges. The result has exceeded our expectations: Alfa5 is not only the largest XR Sports center in the world, but also a benchmark for how entertainment can evolve into memorable and transformative experiences."

The Impossible Sports
Here, visitors can experience expanded sports: physical activities enhanced by augmented reality (XR) technology or immersive projections that allow for total customization of pace, intensity, and level of challenge.
Among the most notable projection-based experiences are:
- Flatball: a competition on a 200 m² field with an interactive digital layer, millimeter-precision motion detection, and spectacular projections. A true revolution in team sports.
- Goal It!: 360º soccer with four interactive walls that respond to ball impact. Precision, speed, and strategy come together in a fully immersive environment.
- Flash!: an interactive climbing wall that challenges both body and mind. Players must follow numeric sequences while climbing, under a storm of light and color.
eVRest, Cyber Hunt, Neon Targets, GlowMission, Soft Drop, and Racket NX round out the offering of experiences at Alfa5. These games, designed to be enjoyed in teams, combine technologies such as 360° virtual reality headsets, laser beams, and interactive environments to deliver immersive, dynamic, and adrenaline-filled adventures. Each offers a different challenge, from futuristic missions to sports competitions with a digital twist, creating a unique and captivating entertainment offering.
The Technology That Brings Alfa5 to Life
To enable Alfa5’s spectacular visual and interactive offering, cutting-edge Panasonic projectors have been deployed, ensuring an immersive, engaging, and high-quality visual experience in each of the center’s attractions. The facility is equipped with 18 PT-MZ14 laser LCD projectors, 14 of which use ET-EMW300 lenses and 4 with ultra-short-throw ET-EMU100 lenses—ideal for delivering bright, sharp projections in large spaces. Additionally, 10 PT-MZ882 projectors with ET-ELW22 lenses provide great versatility in dynamic environments. The center also includes 23 professional monitors from the CQE2 series in various sizes—43”, 55”, and 86”—which enhance the immersive experience with high-quality visual content.
Thanks to this powerful audiovisual infrastructure, the experiences at Alfa5 come to life with stunning resolution, vibrant colors, and highly precise motion detection, enabling fluid, realistic, and exciting interaction.
"We’re thrilled to collaborate on such innovative projects as Alfa5. The combination of technology, immersion, and interactivity is an exciting challenge. Users no longer just want to watch content—they want to interact with it, live it, be part of it."
