The 30th Edition
Six people. Six books. One idea.
This year, TOUGHBOOK turns 30.
To mark it, we didn't want to send a brochure. We wanted to do something that felt more true to where we came from.
Panasonic's founder, Konosuke Matsushita, published 44 books in his lifetime.
He believed that knowledge, freely shared, was one of the most valuable things you could give someone.
So six of us each chose a book that's genuinely shaped how we think and we're sending them out to the people we'd most like to have a conversation with. If you're here, you received one of them. Here's why we chose it.
Our Six Books
Stories that inspire how we think, lead and create.
"I came across this one through someone in the job and couldn't put it down. Stazicker writes about mental resilience in a way that's completely honest, no shortcuts, no easy answers. It stuck with me because the people I work with every day face exactly that kind of pressure. Felt like the right book to share.”
"Everyone's heard of it but not everyone's actually read it. What got me was how practical it is, it's not about motivation, it's about systems. I've recommended it to more people than any other book I've read. If you only read one thing this year, make it this one."
"This one changed how I think about failure. The idea that the best organisations are the ones that are most honest about what went wrong, and actually do something about it, felt really relevant to how we work. It's about performance but it doesn't read like a business book."
"This book hit me at the right time. It's about letting go of what other people think and just getting on with it, something that's easier said than done. Mel Robbins has a way of making you feel like the thing you've been overthinking is actually really simple. I've already recommended it to several people and wanted to share it more widely."
"This one is deceptively simple but it really works. The idea that you have a five second window to act on something before your brain talks you out of it sounds almost too straightforward, but once you're aware of it you start seeing it everywhere. It changed how I approach the moments where I'd normally hesitate. I wanted to share it because I think most people will recognise themselves in it immediately."
"I love this book because it completely dismantles the way you think you understand things. Every chapter takes something familiar and shows you why the obvious explanation is usually wrong. For anyone making decisions based on data, which is most of us, it's a genuinely useful way to think."
From books to TOUGHBOOKs. You’ve seen our books. Now meet our TOUGHBOOKs.
The six books in this campaign were chosen because they reflect how we think: resilience, curiosity, improvement, and the confidence to challenge the usual way of doing things. Those same ideas have shaped Panasonic TOUGHBOOK for 30 years. We build rugged laptops, tablets and mobile solutions for teams who work beyond the desk, in the field, on the move and in environments where standard technology is not always enough.
Different books. Shared values.
The titles are different. The lessons are different.
But running through each one are ideas that matter to us: resilience, curiosity, continuous improvement, accountability and the confidence to challenge conventional thinking. The same principles that have shaped TOUGHBOOK over the last 30 years.
