Challenge
Transform dormant winter spaces at Liseberg Amusement Park into immersive nighttime attractions that could boost visitor engagement during low‑season periods.
Solution
Creative Technology delivered a large‑scale façade projection using Panasonic RQ25 projectors, advanced 3D mapping, and integrated lighting and effects to create a seamless, high‑impact immersive experience that significantly increased attendance.
Liseberg’s Vision for Transforming Seasonal Experiences
Liseberg, located in Gothenburg, Sweden, is Scandinavia’s largest and most popular amusement park. Since opening in 1923, it has continued to attract approximately three million visitors each year, offering a diverse mix of thrilling rides, seasonal events, and family-friendly entertainment.
Liseberg operates across Summer, Halloween, and Christmas and, like many theme parks, it is considering how to evolve toward more immersive experiences – a trend seen across many European entertainment parks. By reimagining spaces that typically remain dormant during winter, Liseberg can revitalise its offerings and create fresh, year‑round attractions for visitors.
Tried and Tested Technology Partnerships
Creative Technology (CT), a leading provider of advanced audiovisual and event production solutions, was approached by Liseberg in late 2024 to explore the projecting of visuals onto the façade of a cluster of buildings within the park.
To do this, CT developed a detailed 3D mapping model to visualise how the project could be realised. Following successful tests, Liseberg commissioned CT to launch a new installation for its Halloween-themed season.
With a long-standing history of utilising Panasonic projectors, CT selected eight PT-RQ25 3-Chip DLP™ 4K laser projectors to bring the installation to life. As the world’s smallest and lightest 20,000-lumen 3DLP projector, the RQ25 delivers exceptional brightness and vivid colours in a remarkably compact form factor. This makes it ideal for large-scale immersive experiences where performance and installation flexibility are crucial.
"We demonstrated the capabilities of the Panasonic projectors with a test shoot over several nights, giving Liseberg a clear idea of what they could expect. We then spent the entire winter developing detailed drawings and created a complete digital 3D model before the installation. This allowed us to prepare thoroughly in advance."

This preparation included calibrating and aligning equipment, determining projector positions on the roof of the buildings, and accounting for obstacles such as trees and other structures. This was where the 3D mapping of the installation helped CT to identify and avoid potential obstructions.
Advanced Projector Technology Combined with Precise Execution
In addition to selecting the RQ25s, CT employed software tools such as Depence to refine the mapping process. CT also utilised GrandMA3, a professional lighting control system for programming and managing the complex light set up; and worked with Formförbundet, a Swedish design and production company, to make the content as engaging as possible.
All content playback was managed through two Disguise media servers. This combination produced a powerful and seamless projection, with light, smoke, and sound effects also enhanced the overall look and feel of the installation. For this installation, CT used Bitfocus Companion, an open‑source software platform designed to control and integrate multiple devices in live event environments.
The RQ25 projectors used LE10 and LE6 standard zoom lenses, delivering superior performance and ease-of-use. Offering up to 20,000 hours of maintenance-free projection, and a compact design that makes the units significantly easier to transport, install, and adjust, the projectors have operated flawlessly. Five RQ25s were positioned in landscape orientation, with three in portrait.
A key advantage is Panasonic’s integrated real-time monitoring and proactive issue detection software. This ensures increased reliability and continuous operation, every day. It also enables the CT team to accurately calculate the number of required projectors.
A Standout Success That Sparked Even Bigger Ambitions
The RQ25’s bright and vivid visuals delivered an immersive and memorable experience for visitors. After the Halloween premiere, Liseberg invited CT to design and deliver a special Christmas installation.
This new project runs from mid-November through to the end of December. During this period, each of the eight RQ25 projectors operate continuously each evening from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., ensuring a seamless experience for visitors. The installation’s success has been met with great enthusiasm, reinforcing the value of immersive experiences in attracting and engaging audiences.
"The Panasonic RQ25 is one of the few projectors that could be accommodated within the same cabin, with two units stacked in portrait orientation and two in landscape. From an operational standpoint, blending and alignment were made easy by Panasonic’s software, which excels in handling geometric corrections, enabling rapid calibration if required. The solution is highly user friendly and easily managed via laptop or remote control – and consistently delivers outstanding results. The combination of cutting-edge Panasonic technology and creative artistry has enabled us to create a façade projection that was truly spectacular, delivering an unforgettable visitor experience."
