5 Tips For Creating an Engaging Blended Learning Experience
The pandemic has forced European universities and higher education institutions to fundamentally reconsider the way they deliver learning. The roughly 2700 higher education institutions across Europe have had to adapt quickly to find a way to support the 20 million students that could no longer study and socialise on campus in the same way as before.
The way forward looks to be the creation of hybrid, blended learning environments, with some students present and socially distanced, where possible, supported by online e-learning. For many institutions, this path was already one being followed but it has been radically accelerated by the pandemic.
Research shows there are benefits to a blended learning approach. On average, students retain 25-60%1 more material when learning online compared to only 8-10% in a classroom. This is mostly due to the students being able to learn faster online; e-learning requires 40-60% less time to learn2 than in a traditional classroom setting because students can learn at their own pace, going back and re-reading, skipping, or accelerating through concepts as they wish.
As higher education institutions continue to transform traditional classrooms and lecture theatres to those that accommodate the virtual and blended learning experience, choosing the right technology is an important foundation to a successful transition.
From interactive projectors and touch displays to PTZ cameras, Panasonic’s AV solutions are being used to capture and share class materials in ways that students can digest whether learning from home or the classroom. With crisp audio and visual capabilities, the virtual classroom can be as dynamic a learning experience as ever, helping students feel connected and engaged to their teachers and professors.
