Wiesbaden, DE. 4th February 2025 – Panasonic Connect Europe today announced availability of the Matrox ConvertIP SDM card for purchase with its full range of AVoIP-enabled visual systems, enhancing IP-based workflows across its Projectors, LED and Professional Displays. Following successful collaboration, testing and certification, the Matrox ConvertIP SDM cards, which support the IPMX open standard format and ST 2110, will be available via Panasonic from March 2025.

Expanding Portfolio of IP-Based Standards

The Matrox ConvertIP SDM cards are compatible with the Intel® SDM specification slots found on Panasonic’s state-of-the-art range of LED displays, 4K projectors and conventional displays. The addition expands Panasonic customers’ choice of AVoIP standards, which already includes the SDVoE and HDBaseT formats.

Suited to a Range of Environments

The versatile IPMX open-standard format is becoming increasingly popular across a range of ProAV environments outside of traditional broadcasting. It supports uncompressed streaming at 25Gbps, ideal for delivering low-latency, 4K 60fps live broadcasts, using the ST 2110 format. For mid-range streaming applications, it can also support 10Gbps and 1Gbps bandwidths for sharing compressed media in entertainment, corporate and education environments where network capabilities are more limited.

Built-In Redundancy Ensures Continuity

In addition, the Matrox ConvertIP SDM card also increases redundancy and minimises disruption in the event of signal failure while still using a lean infrastructure. This is achieved through the IPMX daisy-chain method, whereby multiple Panasonic devices are connected to each other in a linear fashion, with the output of one device directly linked to the input of the next, in a loop. The redundant input/output design of the Matrox ConvertIP SDM card enables visuals to be switched seamlessly to the backup loop should network problems result in signal failure. Alongside drastically reducing cabling with only a single network cable needed, the secondary path can be used if the primary fails, ensuring all devices receive the same signal.

This is particularly useful in digital signage applications where the same content is displayed across multiple screens, and where excessive cabling is unpractical and expensive.

Unrivalled Knowledge of AVoIP Solutions

Panasonic is leading the industry in IP-based connectivity and configurability. It is the only manufacturer to feature Intel® SDM specification slots across the range of LED displays, projectors and conventional displays, allowing for seamless AVoIP integration with various proprietary or third-party function boards, such as the Matrox ConvertIP SDM card.

It's SDM approach delivers increased communication and collaboration between multiple IP-based devices in different locations. It reduces additional hardware and installation costs, reduces the number of network components minimising the need for cabling and external power supplies and increases flexibility and sustainability as hardware can be easily upgraded.

"We’ve collaborated closely with Matrox Video to develop and test its IPMX SDM card for Panasonic’s portfolio of visual SDM-enabled solutions, giving our customers and partners a flexible, reliable and cost-effective way to utilise IP-based connectivity. To further increase AVoIP interoperability with our solutions, we will continue to make more formats available as market adoption increases and as customers look for holistic, IP-based solutions that meet complex project requirements."

"Panasonic Visual’s decision to work closely with us on this important IPMX SDM card and offer it directly as a solution to its customers, underlines the increasing importance of the IPMX format and its widespread adoption in the marketplace. We look forward to collaborating with Panasonic on additional SDM card solutions that will further enable its customers to take creative and commercial advantage of the AVoIP world."

Showcased on Panasonic’s booth, 3J500 (Hall 3) at ISE 2025, the Matrox ConvertIP SDM IPMX-format card is available with Panasonic solutions from CY2025 Q1.
