Strengthening rugged technology partnerships

BAPCO is a key industry event for the Panasonic TOUGHBOOK team. It brings customers, partners, and prospects together from fire, ambulance, and police services to discuss cutting-edge solutions, frontline challenges, and the importance of strengthened strategic partnerships in emergency services communications.

It also provided the TOUGHBOOK team an opportunity to catch-up with long-term partners such as Motorola, to discuss the latest innovative in-vehicle, rugged communication solutions.

A game changer for emergency services

As emergency services continue to digitise operations, the demand for flexible, cost-effective technology solutions has never been greater. At BAPCO, Panasonic showcased how its TOUGHBOOK Mobile-IT As-A-Service (MaaS) offering is transforming how organisations deploy, maintain, and upgrade their IT infrastructure. This end-to-end package provides robust hardware, essential software, and dedicated support – all with no upfront costs and a flexible monthly subscription fee that provides scalability.

Panasonic’s TOUGHBOOK MaaS ensures that mobile workforces always have access to the latest technology, enhancing efficiency and productivity for field operatives. For emergency services, this means greater operational readiness. Firefighters, paramedics, and police officers can rely on fully managed rugged devices that are always updated and optimised for their specific needs.

Adapting technology to the evolving demands of emergency services

Technology must evolve to support the changing working practices of emergency personnel. The TOUGHBOOK 33mk4 remains the most popular rugged device used by fire services, offering an ultra-bright touchscreen that remains readable in direct sunlight or heavy smoke. Fire crews can quickly review building layouts, hazardous material data, and emergency protocols, ensuring critical information is always at their fingertips.

The 2-in-1 detachable 33mk4 can be used in-vehicle as an MDT for navigation and incident coordination or as a mobile companion for real-time data access at an incident. Hot-swappable batteries increase uptime, while 5G connectivity and GPS tracking enhance communication between command centres and mobile teams.

Today, first responders are expected to handle far more than patient care at the scene. They must seamlessly integrate administrative tasks, such as updating digital records and navigating back-office systems, into their workflow. Therefore, they require a device that can improve efficiency before, during, and after an incident.

At BAPCO, our 10.1-inch TOUGHBOOK G2mk3 was also a key talking point – it is the first Panasonic tablet to feature an AI-enabled Intel® processor, combining industry-leading performance with unmatched customisation and modularity.

Its AI capabilities enable data to be collected, stored, and analysed at the edge, where a connection to the cloud isn’t available – and without affecting the G2mk3’s overall performance and processing power. Its impressive 11-hour battery life on a single charge ensures frontline teams can stay connected, access critical data, and report in real-time.

Both the 33mk4 and G2mk3 are tested to MIL-STD 810H standards and are IP65-rated for water and dust resistance. The emergency services users in the field have complete peace-of-mind that they can continue operating at all times, regardless of the environment and conditions.

Success with advanced solutions

For emergency services and public sector teams, investing in the right technology isn’t only about efficiency; it’s about ensuring success. The latest TOUGHBOOK lineup does exactly that by setting new standards in communication and rugged mobility, keeping teams connected in the moments that matter most.

We’re already looking forward to BAPCO 2026, and seeing how the future of mobility has evolved even further.
