The AJ-PX800G is a new-generation camera-recorder for news gathering. It is network connectable and provides superb picture quality, high mobility and excellent costperformance. Weighing only about 2,8kg (main unit), the AJ-PX800G is the world's lightest*¹ shoulder-type camera-recorder equipped with three MOS image sensors for broadcasting applications. It also supports AVC-ULTRA multi-codec recording.*² The picture quality and recorded data rate can be selected from one of the AVC-ULTRA family of codec’s (AVC-Intra/AVC-LongG) according to the application. Along with a Low-rate AVC-Proxy dual-codec recording ideal for network-based operation and off-line editing. Built-in network functions support wired LAN, wireless LAN*³ and 4G/LTE network connections,*⁴ enabling on-site preview, uploading data to a server and streaming. The AJ-PX800G is a single-package solution for virtually all broadcasting needs.

Key Features

The AJ-PX800 is the world's lightest in its class at approximately 2,8kg (6,2 lb) for the main unit. The 2,2 megapixel 2/3type MOS (RGB 3) image sensors adopted offer full-pixel HD (1920 × 1080) resolution, F12 (59.94 Hz) or F13 (50 Hz) sensitivity and low noise with an S/N of 62 dB. It also achieves rich gradation and vibrant colour reproduction. Moreover, a variety of functions are packed into this one camera, including CAC (Chromatic Aberration Compensation) where a small amount of circumjacent chromatic aberration (circumjacent blur) that is not corrected by the lens is compensated, DRS (Dynamic Range Stretcher) where blocked shadows and blown highlights are suppressed to achieve a visually wide dynamic range and Advanced Flash Band Compensation (FBC) for high-precision flash band detection and compensation.

The image quality and bit rate can be selected to match the application. This is made possible by Panasonic's professional A/V codec family, AVC-ULTRA, provided as standard to meet the particular needs of broadcasting and video production*² to streaming. HD/SD Multi Format/Multi Codec is also supported. The AJ-PX800 records 1080/50i as well as 24p*⁵, 25p and 720p HD/SD multiple format. It also supports 60i*⁵, 24p and 30p by 59.94 Hz/50 Hz switching for convenient use in productions headed for global use. Conventional DVCPRO HD/DVCPRO50/DVCPRO/DV codec recording is also supported as well as SD (480/576) recording. Two P2 cards can also be accepted. Using memory card adapter AJ-P2AD1G　(sold separately), microP2 cards can be used.

The standard LAN (Ethernet) port allows network connection via a wired LAN. When the optional AJ-WM30 Wireless Module (sold separately) is installed, the AJ-PX800 gains wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11g/n) connectivity. This enables use of functions such as Proxy Preview and Camera Remote from a network-connected PC/Mac, tablet device or smartphone*6. 4G/LTE network connectivity is also supported. The AJ-PX800 can send data directly to a network server via FTP, allowing broadcast stations to edit recorded data immediately at the editing desk. Moreover, it is capable of proxy image streaming. This enables live streaming while recording images onto a memory card.^*7

This adapter extends the benefits of the microP2 cards to existing P2 card user by adapting the SD form factor of the microP2 card into the PCMCIA form factor of the P2 card*. Furthering the versatility of the microP2 card adapter, its design allows Class 10 or high-quality SD cards to be used in emergency situations to record content (at bit rates only up to 50Mbps) on P2 products.

The microP2 card and microP2 card adapter will not support all P2 products. To use the microP2 card adapter, a firmware upgrade of current P2 hardware is required and a fee maybe charged.

The WM50 dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) makes for a more reliable, stable connection to a network in various environments yet its compact size enables it to fit in the wireless module compartment of the P2HD cameras. 2.4GHz offers strong connection through obstacles and compatible with many devices whereas 5GHz offers stability from radio wave interference (Microwave, Bluetooth, etc).
