Panasonic Factory Solutions Europe Connects Visitors of SMTconnect with the Factory of Tomorrow
Panasonic Factory Solutions Europe, a division of Panasonic Connect Europe and a leading company in Industry 4.0, will be showcasing its production equipment and software solutions at SMTconnect in Nuremberg, Germany, from May 10-12th, 2022. Visitors will be able to see how the latest solutions maximise production and improve quality while reducing costs and resources.
Nils Heininger, Division Director of Panasonic Factory Solutions, said: “SMTconnect reflects our company’s mission and what we deliver for customers. As a member of the global Panasonic Connect Group, we have helped connect the world with our solutions for more than 100 years. In the development of Smart Factories, we provide not only the production equipment and the MES software but we can connect the whole factory to maximise output while optimising resources across the shopfloor and as a result reduce production costs by increasing effectiveness.”
Panasonic - making zero a reality
In its bid to make zero production stops a reality, Panasonic MES Software, PanaCIM, oversees the whole production process from the outset by taking control of material management, allocating materials wherever needed, and preventing material shortages and production stops.
During production, Panasonic’s iLNB (integrated Line Management System) makes fast auto-changeover possible, maintaining productivity by not having to stop running processes.
Moving towards zero operator requirements, Panasonic provides solutions such as the NPM-VF machine that handles odd shaped components to reduce the requirement for human labour and lower production costs. When human operators are still required, PGMA (Panasonic Guided Manual Assembly) will instruct the operator how and where to place the component on the PCB by a guided process to avoid mistakes during manual assembly which leads to zero defects.
Additional tools like the APC (Advanced Process Control) function, the seamless machine communication (M2M) managed by Panasonic’s iLNB (integrated Line Management System) and the well stablished error information sharing with inspection equipment in the production line (FF/FB/MFB) also provide vital support on the path to zero defects.
On the way to zero emissions and sustainability, Panasonic is the lowest energy consumption equipment provider in the market. Its mission towards sustainability builds on three pillars. First to reduce the CO2 footprint created by the manufacture of its own production line machines by shortening the supply chain and focusing on the most sustainable components. Second, by concentrating on building production line machines where retrofitting and recycling strategies can be applied for extended life cycles. Lastly, by offering solutions to decrease downtime and defects and helping to maximise the efficiency savings of the production line.
Iván Rodrigo Flor Cantos, European Marketing Manager at Panasonic Factory Solutions, said: “Industry demand is fast changing and production needs to be flexible and responsive to new requirements at any time. To aid manufacturers, we have a huge portfolio covering the requirements of small, mid-size and large production facilities. Panasonic’s solutions today can help manufacturers connect to tomorrow. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our Panasonic Booth at SMTconnect.”
