Panasonic’s latest TOUGHBOOK G2 and 33 tablets push the boundaries of rugged computing
written by: Dirk Weigelt, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Panasonic TOUGHBOOK
Unrivalled performance for demanding applications
Panasonic TOUGHBOOK has long led the way in rugged notebooks and tablets for truly mobile workers. The knowledge that stems from understanding customers’ needs, in terms of what they require from their devices, is evident in the new 10.1-inch G2mk2 and 12-inch 33mk3. Both feature market-leading performance and ruggedness, enhanced connectivity, and increased modularity.
The G2mk2 and 33mk3 both utilise the 12th generation Intel® Core™ (Alder Lake) i5 processor range, with Intel vPro® Technology, helping to run the most demanding applications on Windows 11 Pro.
Furthermore, Panasonic has equipped the latest TOUGHBOOK G2 and 33 with Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics technology. This enables users to access multiple applications simultaneously, even those that depend on superior computing performance, such as detailed mapping information.
Market-leading ruggedness
The MIL-STD 810H* military-grade ruggedness and IP65*-rated water and dust protection for the G2mk2 and 33mk3 allows users to continue working in any environment, without any fear of drops, knocks, vibrations, and extreme weather or temperatures affecting productivity.
The 33mk3 really comes into its own when used as a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT), giving users the ability to use the device inside and outside of vehicles, without fear of damage. This is particularly useful in the emergency services sector, with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service using the TOUGHBOOK 33 before, during, and after an incident.
In the transport and logistics industry, the multi-purpose design of the 33mk3 enables it to be mounted in forklifts when required and used as a truly mobile device for other applications around the warehouse. This provides increased flexibility and efficiency over fixed in-vehicle devices.
Increased modularity and 5G connectivity without compromise
Panasonic’s reputation for market-leading rugged devices is underpinned by their ability to be highly customised, with their modular-first design allowing organisations to personalise their devices for user requirements.
The TOUGHBOOK G2mk2 is the most customisable rugged tablet available, with Panasonic taking modularity to greater heights. The device’s rear expansion area can now be fitted with a fingerprint reader, ideal for users such as in defence that need to authenticate secure access to sensitive or mission critical data. Furthermore, the G2mk2 Top Expansion Area – already customisable with five peripherals – is now compatible with a MicroSD Memory Card Slot. This enables personnel to quickly access and transfer important data between devices when in the field.
Both the G2mk2 and 33mk3 also utilise the powerful, best-in-class Thunderbolt™ connectivity standard, enabling high-bandwidth data, power, and video transfers.
For mobile workers that require ultra-low latency, faster response times, and enhanced data transfer and communication capabilities – an ongoing requirement for those in the transport and logistics, manufacturing, and the emergency services – the G2mk2 can be equipped with a 5G module with support of 5G (SA) private networks straight out of the box. This follows increased customer demand for devices that are compatible with 5G standalone networks.
This is yet another example of Panasonic’s understanding of customers requirements, and what they need to consistently perform at their best in the field.
The latest iteration of Panasonic’s TOUGHBOOK G2 and 33 perfectly balance performance, connectivity, flexibility and ease of use with ruggedness, and security, future-proofing end users’ mobile computing technology, regardless of sector, application or environment.
