PANASONIC SOFTWARE INTEGRATES SHOPFLOOR & WAREHOUSE FOR KEMPTRON OY
Panasonic’s software solution integrates Kemptron’s production line with third-party warehouse management systems, increasing efficiency and autonomy for the Finnish electronics manufacturer.
Munich, DE. 7th May 2025 – Specialist electronics manufacturer, Kemptron Oy (Kemptron) has deployed a brand-new production line using Panasonic Factory Solutions’ NPM-GP/L printer and NPM-W2 pick-and-place machines. Installed by longstanding Panasonic partner and specialist SMT equipment provider, SMT House, the automated turnkey solution future-proofs Kemptron’s production capabilities, delivering the agility required to thrive in the hyper-competitive electronics manufacturing sector.
Founded in 2024, Kemptron Oy, is based in Lahti, Finland and employs 130 specialists in electronics manufacturing for industrial OEM clients. It produces printed circuit boards (PCBs), subassemblies, and transformers, in addition to DC fast chargers for EVs, offroad vehicles, boats, and aircraft.
Advanced Software Enables the Connected Factory
Using Panasonic’s advanced line management software, PanaCIM-EE, SMT House has connected Kemptron’s production line to a third-party warehouse management system, in addition to its manufacturing execution systems, ERP software, and inventory management tools. This allows crucial data to be shared in real-time across all areas of its connected factory.
Increasing Efficiency Through Automation
Using a High Mix, Low Volume (HMLV) production structure, Kemptron creates approximately 2.000 individual boards produced every day. With more than ten set-up changes needed per shift, increasing production speed and flexibility are crucial.
Panasonic’s fully-automated, high precision NPM-GP/L stencil printer provides high-quality printing, delivering remarkable print repeatability and consistent precision. It supports both automated model changeover to streamline the transition between different production runs, and in-time machine monitoring to minimise downtime. With increased feeder capacity and advance warning systems when components are running low, the NPM-GP/L significantly increases production uptime and efficiency, enabling Kemptron to respond to customer supply and demand changes in real-time through continuous, autonomous updates.
Panasonic’s NPM-W2 high-speed, modular pick-and-place machine delivers efficient and precise SMT assembly. Placing up to 77,000 components per hour, it integrates component placement, solder paste inspection (SPI), automated optical inspection (AOI), and adhesive dispensing into a single platform.
Ideal for handling larger PCB assemblies, the NPM-W2 automatically receives order information, and the materials required for specific PCBs in real-time, thanks to Panasonic’s line management software. Using a pay-per-use model for components, this increases flexibility, and reduces unnecessary waste, and overall production time.
"We needed an automated solution that increased speed of assembly, whilst reducing changeover times. Panasonic Connect’s autonomous factory solutions were exactly what we were looking for. Furthermore, the flexibility of renting these machines from SMT House – not to mention the fantastic service afforded to Kemptron before, during, and after installation – made this an easy decision."
